For years, I’ve been dreaming of a day when I would hear God say, “GO” and I would leave behind whatever life I was living and chase after Him into the unknown.

A few months ago, while chatting over coffee, a friend of mine asked me: “What is stopping you from doing that right now?”

The question took me by surprise. Nobody had ever asked me that. Hours after our conversation, both the question and my search for a real answer, weighed heavily on my thoughts.

As an example of God’s unfailing grace, two more people asked me the same question in the next two weeks. In addition, it seemed as though the world around me seemed to be shouting, “Liz, what are you waiting for?”

When it comes to taking risks and making big life-changing decisions, my inclination is to wait for perfect clarity, perfect capability and perfect confidence. As a result, there’s always a reason not to take action… not to move forward. Not to “GO”. However, as I began to seek’s God’s heart in the matter, he reminded me: His “GO” always requires courage in the face of inadequacy and fear. That’s why He repeats to Joshua so many times in the Bible, “Be strong and courageous”.

This realization left me sitting, tears flowing, at a table in my favorite Greek restaurant while pouring out my heart to my best friend. When I finished, she said what both of us knew God had been confirming all around me,

“It’s time for you to go.”

So the day has come; I will leave behind the life I am living and chase after Him to the unknown!

I am excited and humbled to share that I will be traveling overseas to begin full time missionary work in October this year.

This journey started 6 years ago when God began speaking to me about walking with Him into dark places and bringing His light to the lost and broken. His lead has taken me around the world and to many places within the United States. Now, after waiting on Him and serving here in my home town of Dayton, Ohio for several years, I recognize the Holy Spirit calling me out into a season of risk and faith. So, I’m putting aside my current job and the design agency that I’ve built the last few years… and I’m chasing after God’s heart.

October 2nd, I will begin a 6-month program with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Perth in Australia. This starts the process of training to serve in long term missions. The program, Foundations of Counseling Ministry, will prepare me to identify needs on the mission field and how to respond. After the program ends in March 2017, my desire is to continue in missions work full time. I believe that God will provide me with my long term “marching orders” during my six months of training in Australia. Wherever I go, I know that He will do mighty things.

I want to invite you to come along with me on this journey.

I am committed to telling the story of God’s work to the world through writing, video and consistent communication. I believe that this is an important part of stewarding God’s work and giving him glory. If you’d like to come along and be part of this journey, I want to invite you to subscribe to my regular email updates. Thank you for taking the time to read this announcement. Seeing this come to fruition after years of waiting is so sweet for me to share with you. I hope that you’ll join me on this journey – it’s going to be a wild, beautiful, God-filled ride!

In His Love,
Liz Robertson
